Glenhaven is located in the Hills District region of Sydney; it is situated 32 kms north west of the Sydney CBD in New South Wales, Australia. Glenhaven is located in the Hawkesbury state electorate and has a population of 6,101 people. The suburbs surrounding Glenhaven are: Annangrove, Kenthurst, Kellyville, Dural, and Castle Hill.
The suburb was originally named Sandhurst but as there was already a suburb in Melbourne of the same name, there was confusion with mail being sent to the wrong state. A public meeting was held in Sandhurst in 1894 and the name was changed to Glenhaven. The most prominent street in the suburb is named Sandhurst Crescent in honor of the original name.
Glenhaven is a well-off area of Sydney, with a median weekly household income of almost double the national average. It is home to two schools, a local public school and a popular alternative schooling Steiner school called Lorien Novalis School.
